okay the past week has been crazed working on the piece and performance, meeting with curator types from the skulptur park and beyond and going to/from Warsaw. and now Tom just packed my notes so I will have to augment these observations once we arrive on the west coast. timeline for next week is to fly into PHL, pack our car, and drive West planning to arrive on the 4th of July.
attended a film projector event on Thursday night in Berlin, slick website, sketchy building/physical environs. we've been noticing that this is a constant on the Berlin scene and it is pretty refreshing. if you doubt, check out team directors lounge
and then trust me when I say we were hanging with rats and fetid pools and whatnot until Tom noticed the secret staircase that led the way upstairs to the show. the artist was Sally Golding from Australia, my favorite part about the pieces was the way she embraced the projectors in order to move the images around and then also the point at which she was trying to get the soundboard guy to turn down the volume but she forgot she was wearing a mask and he couldn't read her facial expressions. it was a super-curious communication breakdown.
the crowd at the skulpturenpark for our event Friday: again, Berlin is an awesome environment for this kind of stuff. one guy got a flat bike tire but walked the 3 miles nonetheless.
Warsaw: there's some really great work that has and is happening in this city. I will hit things more in-depth from the Left Coast, for now teaser images will have to suffice--check out raster
and also zacheta national gallery as well as gallery XXI.
